The Northumberland village of Haydon Bridge lies on the River Tyne and is so named because it has two distinctive bridges crossing the river. Today the village divides into two parts, one on the South of the river and the old Haydon Bridge on the North side. Its church was built from stone taken from Hadrians Wall. The village held its own races, initially on Monday 29th March 1852, and a follow-up meeting on Monday 14th March 1853.
